Support Pimlico Opera in Prison

After 5 weeks of full-time rehearsal, Les Misérables in High Down prison was attended by 2,000 people: the public, prisoner families, prison staff and prisoners.

Many were in tears at the curtain calls.

It was our 23rd prison production. Since 1990, Pimlico Opera has worked with thousands of prisoners, has employed ex-prisoners and taken 55,000 public into prison. Sir Stephen Tumim, former Chief Inspector of Prisons, was patron of the project at its inception.

"The project has a significant impact not just on the prisoners but on the audience and the prison itself. All are changed irrevocably; they will never forget what happened and how they felt."

In March 2019 we are back in prison and the £200k project cost is met by donations; there is no public funding.
